Gav & Tom

Gavin Gillibrand

For those that don’t know me, I’m Gav, 43 years young, 5.8” on a good day and I have a serious passion for LIFE.

This is the part of the “About Us” where I’m meant to tell you where I grew up, the education I had and what my hobbies are isn’t it?

Well I’m not going to tell you that because lets face it, you don’t care. You are on this website because YOU want results in a certain area of your life.

There is something you want to improve or change entirely with your health, fitness, finances or lifestyle. Maybe you want to improve a little or a lot, or maybe you want a full transformation?

That’s great and you know why? Because wherever you are and whatever you want, you are in the right place by being here.

What I will tell you about myself is that I am committed to helping you as much as I can IF…you are committed to making a change and doing the work. One thing I’ve come to realize over the years is that you can truly get what you want from life when you work for it, BUT…you have to be smart in your approach.

We have the answers that you are looking for, all you have to do is be coachable and have a willingness to learn.

Sound like you?

Great.

Oh and btw…

I have a few qualifications:

My degree was a BSc. in Sports & Exercise, I’m a qualified sports nutritionist with ISSN (International Society of Sports Nutrition) and have over 20 years of experience in the health & fitness industry. I’ve trained with top strength & conditioning coaches, Charles Poliquin and Paul Chek.

I’m qualified to teach aerobics, boxercise, spinning and step classes and I was on “Blind Date” with Cilla Black in 1993. For those that don’t know, “Blind Date”was a very popular T.V show in the 80’s and 90’s. A girl has to pick a guy from a choice of 3 sat behind the curtain from the strength of their answers.

I got picked and went for a trip on a steam train with a girl called Sally from Bournemouth. I nearly became famous (lol)

I spent the best part of 17 years in a male dance troupe, galavanting all over Europe with some of my best mates just because I loved it and I summited Mont Blanc in 2012. I’ve got my eyes on Everest (one day).

I also love books, writing, travel and all sports. I’m a huge fan of curry, good coffee, personal development, climbing mountains, jumping out of planes and all things Space (geek). The inspirations in my life are Alex my girlfriend and my daughter Mia and I think that the best time of the day is 5am (ask me why if you want?)

Oh and I love sunshine too…

…Just in case you do care 🙂

Helping others achieve vitality through the most efficient route possible is the key.

Yes we all age but we can control the speed at which this happens, and that is where eighty 20 Lifestyle comes in. In keeping true to the 80/20 philosophy, I’ll do my best to focus on the twenty percent of protocols that deliver eighty percent of the results.

I have been honoured to be featured multiple times in Men’s Fitness magazine as a writer and a fitness model and Men’s Health as a contributor, as well as countless other fitness publications too. Keeping a focus on simplicity, having fun, giving insight into why exercises and foods are chosen and increasing areas of life such as sleep, energy, mood, longevity, and other areas holistically connected to the above have been achieved many, many times over the twenty plus years I have centred my life around health and fitness.

Practicing what I preach is paramount to myself and my wife Jess, who is also a nutritionist. I am blessed to work with my best friend of over twenty five years Gav, the other part of eighty 20 Lifestyle. Long term health, achieving a healthy body with low body fat and higher muscle composition and being fit and strong for life and not just for the gym are all interconnected.

So a little more about me for those that want to know.

I love my family and I love to travel. Keeping myself in optimum health and being able to travel, adventure and hike with friends, family and my fantastic wife is part of what life is about for me. Seeing new places and experiencing new cultures, with Trip Advisor, the Lonely Planet and people in the know as great guides.

Being surrounded by like minded, positive, glass half full, driven people is so key. There is enough negativity in this world, but so much goodness so focusing on sharing time with people that value others is paramount.

Cars have fascinated me since an early age and driving is such a pleasure. I support Norwich City FC which is my families local team. Maybe in the next life I can be born in Barcelona 😉

I worked at a Bungee Jump centre in my early twenties in Greece. I’ve promoted parties in Paris for many years, pushed trolleys in Sainsburys as a sixteen year old, been a model in a Vivienne Westwood show in Milan, been a paperboy, worked on events for brands like Jaguar, UEFA, Nike, Virgin and many others through the years but health and wellness is what fires me up and what my calling in life is.

I weigh the same now at 43 years old, give or take a kilo, as I did at 22 so keeping in shape for a long time is something I talk about but also walk that talk.
